Our bodies use minerals for many functions, including maintaining a healthy immune system. As these minerals are not produced in the body, a balanced diet is essential for keeping you healthy. This test helps identify deficiencies to help ensure you are getting the required balance.
Most people with a mild mineral deficiency or excess will not experience any symptoms, so regular testing is key to understanding your levels. By testing often, you can optimize your diet to make sure your intake is right for you.
Symptoms of a mineral deficiency or excess may include, but are not limited to:
- Weakness, fatigue, or decreased energy levels
- Muscle aches and pain
- Weakened immune system and increased susceptibility to infections
- Problems with vision
- Joint pain and discomfort
- Problems with your heart
- Loss of appetite, nausea, or abdominal pain
- Hair loss
- Poor bone health
Anyone can develop a mineral deficiency. It may be more common if you are vegan or a vegetarian or if you have eliminated certain foods from your diet. Deficiencies may be more likely to occur as you age, if you have medical conditions that impact the absorption of food or as the result of some medications.
You should take the Mineral Test if:
- You follow a vegetarian or vegan diet
- You have recently excluded a particular food group from your diet
- You have a condition that may impact the absorption of minerals
- You are taking medications that impact the absorption of some minerals
*If you are experiencing any symptoms please talk to your healthcare provider.
It is recommended that this test is taken before 10 am on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday and returned on the same day.
