Our broadest home STI test looks for 11 of the most common bacterial and viral infections. As many STIs do not have symptoms, early detection and treatment is vital to avoid long term consequences. If you test positive, you will be able to start treatment immediately and avoid passing an infection to a partner.

80% of sexually transmitted diseases are asymptomatic (do not display any symptoms), however, if symptoms do occur, they are likely to present themselves within two weeks of infection.

Symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases may include:

  • Painful urination
  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Rash on the genitals and/or anus
  • Itching or irritation on the genitals and/or anus
  • Unusual lumps or bumps around the genitals and/or anus
  • Change in color of the male or female discharge
  • Abnormal discharge in terms of smell, consistency or volume
  • Strong vaginal odor
  • Painful erections

STDs can take a period of time to become detectable. You should wait at least 4 weeks from the time of potential exposure to disease before taking this test.

Please note that syphilis and hepatitis B can take 12 weeks to become detectable. If you are concerned about these diseases, you should wait at least 12 weeks from the time of potential exposure before taking this test.

You should also consider getting tested if:

  • you become sexually active
  • you have had unprotected sex
  • you are experiencing symptoms of a sexually transmitted disease
  • you are entering into a new sexual relationship
  • you have received a notification from a previous partner that they are infected (STDs can remain dormant for years and/ or take up to three weeks to become detectable.)

The test must be taken fasted, before 9 a.m and returned on the same day.

  • Chlamydia

Chlamydia is an infection caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia can be contracted through sexual contact and generally shows no symptoms.

  • Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is a bacterial infection caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It is transmitted through sexual contact and most commonly causes a yellowish discharge in men and is asymptomatic in women.

  • Trichomoniasis

Trichomoniasis is caused by infection with the protozoan parasite Trichomonas vaginalis and is transmitted through sexual contact. Trichomoniasis is often responsible for a green or frothy discharge in men and women.

  • Gardnerella

Gardnerella vaginalis causes bacterial vaginosis (BV), gardnerella develops as a result of an overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria and is the leading causes of unusual vaginal discharge and odor.

  • Mycoplasma

Mycoplasma genitalium is a bacterium found in the urinary tract and can cause abnormal discharge, pain during sex, abdominal discomfort and a burning pain in the genitals.

  • Ureaplasma

Ureaplasma urealytica is a bacterium that infects the urogenital tract. Ureaplasma can be tranmitted through sexual intercourse and can been found in up to 70% of sexually active adults.

  • HIV (I, II, P24 antigen)

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a blood-borne virus that can be passed on through unprotected anal or vaginal sex and sharing HIV contaminated syringes. HIV attacks immune cells and can develop into AIDs in the later stages.

  • Syphilis

Syphilis is a chronic bacterial infection by the bacterium Treponema Pallidum. Syphilis is transmitted through sexual contact. If left undiagnosed and untreated, syphilis can eventually cause damage to the brain, nerves, eyes, heart, blood vessels, liver, bones, and joints.

  • Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is a blood-borne virus caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). Hepatitis can be an acute or chronic illness, if left untreated, the virus can cause serious liver damage such as cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), liver failure and liver cancer. If the infection becomes chronic, lasting over six months, it can be fatal.

  • Herpes Simplex Virus I & II (HSV I & II)

Herpes is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). HSV-I has been associated with oral herpes (cold sores), whereas HSV-II has been associated with genital herpes. This urine test identifies if you have an active herpes infection. After the initial infection, HSV can become dormant (inactive) in certain nerve cells of the body. A further blood test (which can be purchased separately) is required to identify those who carry the dormant virus.
