Our Complete 10 checks for Gardnerella
Our broadest home HIV test looks for 10 of the most common bacterial and viral infections. These include Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV, Syphilis, Gardnerella, Ureaplasma, Trichomoniasis, Mycoplasma and Herpes Simplex I & II which clinics do not usually test for.
Gardnerella vaginalis is a bacterium that inhabits the vaginal area as a normal occurrence. It is only when it becomes the predominant bacteria in the vagina that it causes problems for women. The vagina is designed to be self-cleaning and should be acidic (pH < 4.5). If women have an overgrowth of gardnerella they develop an infection called Bacterial Vaginosis.
