Introducing “The Heart of Innovation: Conversations With Our Experts,” a new blog series highlighting the remarkable people at LetsGetChecked powered by Fuze Health who are driving clinical excellence, addressing pressing healthcare challenges, and elevating patient experiences.
First up is a conversation with our Lab Director, Stacy Beal. From clinical rigor to cutting-edge innovation, she unpacks what’s driving the lab forward and how our CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited lab is positioned to lead the next wave of advancements in women’s health.
Tell us about your background and what brought you to LetsGetChecked powered by Fuze Health?
I trained as a physician, completing medical school, a residency in clinical pathology, and a fellowship in clinical microbiology. I’m board-certified in clinical pathology, microbiology, and clinical informatics, and my career has focused on the intersection of laboratory medicine, infectious disease, and data-driven healthcare.
What drew me to LetsGetChecked powered by Fuze Health was the opportunity to rethink how health testing is delivered. In traditional healthcare systems, access to testing can be limited by logistics, geography, or stigma—barriers that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. I was excited by the idea of applying high-quality laboratory testing to a more accessible, patient-centered model.
LetsGetChecked powered by Fuze Health combines rigorous clinical standards with innovation in how care is delivered. That balance, maintaining excellence in the lab while expanding access outside of it, felt like a meaningful way to apply my training to improve both individual patient outcomes and broader public health.
What excites you the most about working in the lab?
The lab is where critical healthcare decisions are made. Every result we generate has the potential to inform a diagnosis, guide treatment, or prompt someone to seek care.
I’m especially motivated by the ability to extend that impact beyond traditional settings. By supporting sample collection from home, we’re reaching patients who may not engage with the healthcare system due to time constraints, access issues, or discomfort in clinical environments. That’s particularly meaningful in areas like infectious disease and women’s health, where early detection can significantly change outcomes.
Ultimately, it’s the combination of scientific rigor and real-world impact that makes the work so compelling. We’re applying highly controlled, validated processes while continuously innovating, whether through automation, new specimen types, or expanded test offerings.
LetsGetChecked powered by Fuze Health owns its lab infrastructure and is both CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited. What does that combination mean for the reliability and accountability partners can expect from us?
Being CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited reflects a commitment to regulatory compliance and continuous quality improvement. CLIA certification ensures that we meet federal standards for laboratory testing, while CAP accreditation goes further, requiring rigorous peer-to-peer inspections and adherence to the highest standards in laboratory medicine.
Owning our lab infrastructure adds another critical layer. It means we control every step of the testing process, from specimen handling to analysis to reporting, rather than relying on third-party labs. That level of oversight allows us to maintain consistency, rapidly address issues, and continuously optimize our processes.
For partners and patients, this translates to trust. They can be confident that results are accurate, reproducible, and generated within a system designed for accountability. It also means we’re able to innovate responsibly—introducing new tests and methodologies without compromising on quality.
The lab is the backbone of the insights our patients need. What do you want partners to understand about the science, the standards, and the people behind every result?
Behind every result is a combination of validated science, rigorous quality systems, and a highly trained team. Laboratory testing isn’t just about running samples—it’s about ensuring that every step, from specimen collection to final report, meets strict standards for accuracy and reliability.
At LetsGetChecked powered by Fuze Health, we apply the same instrumentation, methodologies, and quality controls used in leading health systems. But what’s equally important is the expertise of the people behind the process—clinical laboratorians, scientists, and physicians who are deeply invested in getting it right.
There’s also a significant amount of work that goes into making home-collected samples viable for high-quality testing. That includes validating alternative specimen types and ensuring they perform comparably to traditional samples.
Quality and precision are at the core of everything the lab does. What does maintaining that standard look like day-to-day — and what does it mean to you personally to lead a team operating at this level?
Maintaining quality and precision is a continuous, highly intentional process. Every result is supported by multiple layers of checks, both automated and human, to ensure accuracy and reliability. Just as important is fostering a culture where quality is everyone’s responsibility. That means empowering team members to take ownership of the work they do.
Personally, being a part of a team at this level is a privilege. Every result we release has the potential to impact a patient’s life, and that’s something I take very seriously. My role is to ensure that we never lose sight of that impact while continuing to innovate. It’s about balancing excellence with adaptability—holding the line on quality while evolving how we deliver care.
What is one future innovation you would like to see become available to women?
One area I’m particularly excited about is expanding access to comprehensive, longitudinal health monitoring that women can manage from home. An innovation I’d love to see is more accessible, validated testing that helps women understand changes in their health earlier and over time, rather than at isolated points during clinical visits.
This is especially important because women’s health is dynamic—hormonal changes, pregnancy, menopause, and other transitions all influence health in complex ways. Having tools that provide clearer, more continuous insight could empower women to make more informed decisions and seek care earlier.
An example of this is the new launch of our HPV testing program that utilizes an FDA-cleared self-collection kit and an FDA-approved lab assay. This model is designed to significantly reduce common barriers to screening, such as time constraints, transportation issues, and discomfort with traditional clinic-based procedures, making critical preventative care more accessible to a broader population.
Where do you see the biggest opportunity to advance women's health, and how is our lab positioned to lead that?
One of the biggest opportunities in women’s health is expanding access to routine and preventive testing. Many conditions, whether related to cardiovascular risk, reproductive health, or infectious disease, are underdiagnosed because testing isn’t always easy to access or prioritized.
There’s also a need to expand how and when women engage with the healthcare system. Life stages, caregiving responsibilities, and structural barriers can all impact access to care. Meeting patients where they are, including through sample collection at home, is a powerful way to address that.
LetsGetChecked powered by Fuze Health is well-positioned to lead in this space because we combine high-quality laboratory infrastructure with flexible testing models. We can design and deliver test panels that align with specific population needs, while maintaining the clinical rigor required for meaningful results.
By making testing more accessible, we’re not just generating data—we’re enabling earlier detection, more informed decisions, and ultimately better health outcomes for women.
LetsGetChecked powered by Fuze Health transforms patient experiences and enables healthcare partners to excel in an outcomes-focused system. By connecting screenings, diagnostic support, genomics, pharmacy services, and patient engagement, we enable patients to access the care they need and partners to achieve better outcomes across the care journey.
