The Progesterone-Ovulation test monitors ovulation on Day 21 of your cycle. By examining progesterone in the blood, the test can decipher whether you are ovulating normally.
Progesterone imbalances may be caused by:
- Ovulation issues
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
This Progesterone-Ovulation test must be taken 7 days before an expected period. If you have a 28 day period, you take the test on day 21 to confirm that ovulation has occurred. The test must be taken on this day of the menstrual cycle as progesterone levels rise following ovulation or the release of eggs from the ovaries.
The test must be taken fasted, before 9 a.m and returned on the same day.
It is important that you are not using hormonal contraception when taking this test.
Progesterone stimulates the thickening of the uterine lining. It helps to prepare the uterus for the implantation of a fertilized egg. Progesterone is checked on Day 21 of the menstrual cycle to confirm that ovulation has occurred.
