  • Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is a blood-borne virus caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). Hepatitis can be an acute or chronic illness, if left untreated, the virus can cause serious liver damage such as cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), liver failure and liver cancer. If the infection becomes chronic, lasting over six months, it can be fatal.

  • Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is a blood-borne virus caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It is generally asymptomatic so someone who has contracted the virus may not know that they have done so. In cases of chronic hepatitis, upto 20% of people will face liver scarring. Hepatitis C is less common and less detrimental than Hepatitis B.

96% of hepatitis-related deaths are caused by hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Hepatitis B affects approximately 240 million people worldwide. Hepatitis C affects between 130–150 million people worldwide.

Symptoms of Hepatitis B & Hepatitis C may include:

  • Bleeding easily
  • Bruising easily
  • Fatigue

  • Spider-like blood vessels on the skin (spider angiomas)

You should wait a minimum of 30 days from the time of infection risk to take the test. Hepatitis B & C infections take a period of time to become detectable.

Hepatitis B & C infections are most commonly spread through the exchange of bodily fluids or blood.

  • you are injured by a needle stick in a lab or other healthcare setting.
  • you share razors, toothbrushes, or other personal hygiene items that may have touched an infected person’s blood.

Still have questions?

Here are some questions we usually get about LetsGetChecked. If you would like yours answered, please contact us.

You will receive your at home testing kit within 2-5 working days with standard delivery, or 1-2 working days if you opt for express shipping. Your test will arrive in discreet and simple packaging to ensure confidentiality.

The test must be taken fasted, before 9 a.m and returned on the same day.

Please do not collect or return samples on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. The tests must be returned to the laboratory using the prepaid addressed envelope on the same day of taking the sample to ensure accuracy and a prompt delivery of your results.

Registering your test connects the unique barcodes on your samples to your LetsGetChecked account. Alphanumeric barcodes are used to ensure confidentiality.

Activating your test ensures that your results are connected and uploaded to your personal online dashboard so you can continuously review your overall health status. The lab cannot process your sample if the test is not activated online.

The LetsGetChecked medical team will review your health requirements and results. You will receive a call when your results become available. The team is on standby throughout the testing process to offer you support at every step of the way.

The LetsGetChecked tests are the same standard as what you would experience in a physician's office. The laboratories who process the samples are CAP and CLIA approved. Each test is manufactured in an ISO 13485 accredited facility, therefore taking an at home test with LetsGetChecked is the same as taking a test with your doctor.

Each test includes a pre-paid envelope to return your samples to the lab. You should receive your results within 2-5 days of your samples reaching the lab.

Your order and results will be reviewed by our medical team. If your result is out of range, our medical team will call you to provide support. After the call, all results are released to your online account where you can continue to track, monitor and improve your health without the need to deviate from your busy schedule.
