If your results show high LDL levels or if your HbA1c is outside the expected range, a member of our nursing team will call you to explain your results and talk you through your next steps. If your cholesterol test results indicate you could benefit from treatment our nursing team may invite you to start treatment via our Cholesterol CarePathway™ where appropriate.

Our nurses are skilled at explaining test results in a clear and understandable way and can help answer any questions you might have about your results.

A written explanation of your results will also be made available on your secure dashboard and you can download your lab report to share with your healthcare provider.

This test is not suitable if:

You are under 18 years of age.

You are pregnant.

You are at an increased risk of fainting/ loss of consciousness due to blood sample collection, including if you have an arrhythmia, history of vasovagal syncope or fear of blood.

You have a bleeding disorder, or are taking medication that increases the risk of bleeding including (but not limited to) untreated hemophilia or use of blood thinning medications.

You have impaired lymphatic circulation in both upper limbs.

You have a skin disorder or condition that may result in poor healing, an increased risk of disease or skin ulceration — including (but not limited to) Raynaud's, Scleroderma, peripheral vascular disease or peripheral neuropathy.

Collecting a sample may be more difficult if you have hard or callused skin on your fingertips.

Treatment for elevated LDL Cholesterol with LetsGetChecked is not suitable for everyone prescriptions for treatment is at the discretion of the prescribing clinician. As your safety is our priority at all times, treatment is unsuitable for people with an existing diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, angina, kidney disease, or liver disease. It is unsuitable if you experience shortness of breath at rest or mild exertion. It is not suitable for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Yes, this test is suitable for people with diabetes. Our HbA1c test provides a picture of your average glucose levels over the past 2-3 months and can help you monitor your target levels over time. This test is a perfect pairing with your daily blood sugar testing to provide a complete picture of your blood sugar control and help you maintain your individual HbA1c goal. People with diabetes are at an increased risk of hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) which has no symptoms, so this test also helps you to keep track of your cholesterol levels and heart health.

This test is not a replacement for regular blood sugar testing at home so it's important to continue testing as advised by your healthcare provider.

Activating the test connects you to the unique alphanumeric barcode within your LetsGetChecked sample collection kit. The laboratory cannot process your sample if the test is not activated and linked to you.

LetsGetChecked has a team of board-certified physicians who have created expert support materials and detailed result breakdowns for your testing journey. Our nursing team is on standby throughout the testing process and, if you test positive, you will receive a call to discuss your results.

The sample must be collected in the morning while fasting, on a Monday-Friday, and returned on the same day. Each of our health tests includes a prepaid shipping envelope to return your sample to the laboratory.

Fasting means that you take the sample in the morning before you have breakfast. You can still drink water when fasting. Always follow the advice of your physician with regards to fasting, particularly if you have any medical conditions.

Keeping your personal data secure is important to us. We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure security and confidentiality of your information, and only share your information where required to deliver our products and services or where we have a legal basis to do so. All samples are disposed of following analysis.

Your samples are processed in the same labs used by primary care providers, hospitals and government schemes.

LetsGetChecked laboratories are CLIA approved and CAP-accredited, which are the highest levels of accreditation.

Sample collection kits are manufactured within our ISO 13485 accredited facility, the highest level of accreditation for medical devices.

We don’t accept insurance at this time. We work to keep our tests as affordable as possible and our test costs are generally lower than the costs incurred from a trip to a healthcare provider. We accept many Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) cards. They can be used in the same way that a debit or credit card would be used at checkout.
