What is Lipoprotein(a)?
Lipoprotein(a) or Lp(a) is a type of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) made in the liver that carries cholesterol to the cells in your arteries. Unlike other LDLs which can be controlled by diet and lifestyle, Lp(a) levels are mainly determined by your genetic makeup and are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
Why is it important to test your Lp(a) levels?
~20% of the world's population has elevated Lp(a) levels.
Many people with high Lp(a) levels don’t have symptoms.
If you have high Lp(a) levels, your risk for heart attack & strokes can increase.
Your Lp(a) levels are up to 90% determined by your genetic makeup, so testing is important if you have a family history of heart disease.

Still have questions?
If your results show that your HbA1c is outside the expected range, a clinical team member will call you to explain your results and talk you through your next steps. A written explanation of your results will also be made available on your secure dashboard, and you can download your lab report to share with your healthcare provider.
If your results show high LDL levels, you can start a virtual consultation with our healthcare providers at a time that suits you for just $39. Our providers will confirm if you are a suitable candidate for treatment during your consultation. We can then send this medication directly to your home or prescribe medication to your local pharmacy.
Please note that the medication cost will not be covered by LetsGetChecked.
